Christopher Mondello
Christopher has been studying internal martial arts for 25 years. He is a native New Yorker and has a BFA from the school of visual arts and over 30 years working in the picture framing industry. While studying at SVA Chris discovered the works of composer John Cage and his use of the I-Ching in various compositions. For Chris that opened the door to the study of taoist philosophy and eventually internal martial arts. During Chris’ exploration of internal martial arts, he began studying Cheng man-ch’ing yang style tai chi chuan, and after a few years Chris continued his search for deeper and more varied curriculum. His search guided him to the wu tang p.c.a. on the lower east side. Chris joined the school in 2001 and became a formal disciple of Frank Allen in 2009 and has been dedicated to studying all the internal principles and forms the school teaches. Chris’ passion for physical body work and teaching motivated him to become a student of the Feldenkrais method, and is now a certified practitioner. The Feldenkrais Method is very complimentary to the study of internal martial arts. Chris is currently the assistant workshop and weapons instructor for Master Frank Allen. Chris hopes to pass on the knowledge that he’s gained at the Wutang pca and that has come to shape his life over the many years of study.
