Jonathan Molenar
I grew up in the woods of Michigan, the youngest member of a self-sufficient family. I remember reading books about martial arts when I was a child. I began training karate when I was twelve years old, and the martial arts I’ve pursued since have defined every era of my life. I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to study with exceptional teachers and masters in various countries. In 2001 after studying Capoeira Angola for a year in Brazil, I returned to the U.S. and found a job that allowed me to move to New York. I immediately started looking for a Baguazhang teacher. Again I was fortunate and found Master Frank Allen. My first class exposed me to more advanced material than anything I had studied before. I went down the rabbit hole and never looked back.
Frank and Tina have opened many doors for me and given me the opportunity to study with their teachers in China. In 2009, I became an official disciple of Master Allen and have committed to continuing my training with the goal of passing on his teachings forward. In January of 2011 I was invited to join Master Allen in becoming 5th generation disciples of Grand Master Li Bing Ci of Wu style Taijiquan.
In recent years I have also taken up an interest in movement training that includes practices such as MovNat and Kettlebell training as well as exploring breathwork to see how it relates to and compliments Qigong. I look forward to the journey of a lifetime along the path that has been opened for me.
